MUST TRY! Excellent cooking. Simply delicious. I go every week for the lunch menu to have the Chicken Kabab (tender and succulent chicken pieces marinated with green chilli spices). This dish can be too spicy for non-chilli eaters so I would suggest trying the Tandoori Chicken if you can handle a little bit of chilli. Otherwise, you can always ask for suggestions from the staff for non-spicy dishes. Authentic cuisine. I can't recommend it enough! Yum!

Authentic Japanese cuisine. Will go back again soon. The bento set at 30 EUR is a good deal for hungry diners who would like a taste of everything. It includes miso soup + small salad + a variety of sushi + sashimi + tonkatsu (fried breaded pork cutlet) + tempura (prawns & vegetables) + dessert. We went last Saturday night and, after having read the reviews here, were prepared for bad service. The restaurant was full but since we had reservations, we were led immediately to our table. However we waited about 10mins before menus were brought to us. I encourage anyone who craves authentic Japanese cuisine to dine at Yamayu Santatsu but be prepared to wait a long time for anything (make order, drinks, food etc). Don't expect Japanese or even French standards of service as there's only 1 waiter handling the ground floor. He's cordial and polite but just very busy. After the kitchen had closed, he relaxed a bit more and chatted a little with us. As for the chef, he even stood up to bow and thank us as we were leaving. Otherwise, yes, he wore a serious look and hardly smiled except nearing the end of the evening where he danced a little to the Japanese music. I also noticed that he was tired and had a stiff shoulder that he massaged once or twice so I can imagine why he isn't exactly Mr Friendly as some guests have commented. Anyway, the food is good and that's what we went there for. So! Remember to make reservations then go and enjoy your meal! By the way, watch out for the extra strong wasabi. ;-)
